Originally named the “Linnei Diversion Weir,” the facility serves multiple purposes, including irrigation, hydropower generation, and industrial water supply. After water is diverted from the Jiji Weir, it is conveyed through the South Bank Connecting Channel to the downstream section, where an octagonal diversion structure is installed at the No. 2 intake of the Zhuo Main Line in Linnei to distribute water for various downstream uses. In addition to receiving flows from the South Bank Connecting Channel, the diversion pool also supplies water directly from the Zhuo Main Line No. 2 intake in Linnei.

With the completion of the Linnei Diversion Weir and its associated desilting basin improvement works, the facility is able to ensure stable intake, effective water diversion, and sediment removal, thereby enhancing the efficiency of water utilization across multiple sectors. The diversion structure is located at Section 6 of the extended South Bank Connecting Channel of the Jiji Weir. It consists of seven inflow and intake channels, configured in a regular octagonal layout with a diameter of 100 meters. The design minimizes vortex interference during converging flows while regulating water throughput. Each side of the octagon measures 34.6 meters, with a total pool area of 8,660 square meters and a storage capacity of 45,638 metric tons. The sill located 1.5 meters below the intake gates functions as a desilting feature.
