  Introduce

Linbei Community is a small rural settlement jointly inhabited by Minnan and Hakka people, and it is also the largest Hakka settlement in Yunlin County. The community preserves many aspects of Hakka culture. In earlier times, tobacco was one of the most important cash crops in Linbei. At its peak, nearly 20 tobacco-curing barns were in use. However, with changes in time and farming practices, tobacco cultivation has largely ceased, leaving most of the barns abandoned.

To preserve the traditional rural heritage and prevent the gradual loss of Hakka cultural relics, Mr. Huang Cong-wen, a local resident, donated his family’s tobacco barn to the community. The old barn was then renovated and transformed into the Linbei Ka-Hao Digital Living Hall, serving as a cultural and community hub that integrates Hakka heritage with modern digital applications.
