Introduce
This is a small hydroelectric power station located in Wutu Village, Linnei Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan. The plant was originally named the Zhuoshui Power Station. After being incorporated under the management of Taiwan Power Company’s Mingtan Hydropower Plant, it was officially renamed the Mingtan Hydropower Plant – Zhuoshui Unit. Locally, it is also commonly referred to as the Wutu Power Station or the Linnei Power Station.
Situated on the south bank of the midstream section of the Zhuoshui River, the station was first constructed during the Japanese colonial period to supply electricity required for the construction of the Chianan Irrigation System. It was completed and began operation in 1923.
The Zhuoshui Unit is the only hydroelectric power facility serving the Yunlin and Chiayi regions, and one of the few hydropower plants in Taiwan located amidst plains and farmlands.
