  Introduce

In the summer of 2003, Typhoon Koni brought torrential rains that caused severe flooding in the Lunzi settlement. After the waters receded, while most households were busy with post-disaster cleanup, an elderly woman in her seventies who lived alone was unable to manage the aftermath. Fortunately, dozens of villagers came together to help clean her home. Deeply moved, her daughter—who was working in northern Taiwan as a cosmetic tattoo artist—returned to her hometown and initiated a community mural project as a gesture of gratitude. Local residents of Beilun joined forces: the organizer drafted the designs, while villagers, both young and old, added the colors. Soon, the community was filled with charming green frog murals, earning it the name Beilun Frog Mural Village. The once-quiet, aging rural settlement quickly gained popularity and became lively with visiting tourists.
